Yuncture makes a follow-on investment in Artist Arena – with sights set on the next stage

A lot has happened since we last invested in Artist Arena in 2023. Online sales have tripled, as has the number of exhibition spaces, and this spring, Artist Arena Market attracted 3,000 visitors in Gothenburg. So when the company raised new capital earlier this year, we were happy to continue supporting them on the next stage of their journey.

Artist Arena was founded by Fredrik Sologub, the artist behind the pseudonym DIVE Madhouse and a former participant in our incubator. The ambition is to make the art market more accessible and create better opportunities for artists to reach new audiences and sell their work. Today, the platform brings together 380 artists, and Artist Arena operates seven exhibition spaces.

Our relationship with Fredrik goes back further than Artist Arena. We first invested in his previous concept, DIVE Madhouse, in 2018, followed by our first investment in Artist Arena in 2021. Since then, we’ve had the opportunity to follow the company’s development closely.

This spring, Artist Arena took another step forward with Artist Arena Market, a four-day art fair in Gothenburg organised together with Göteborgsfamiljen, with Yuncture as a partner. The fair attracted around 3,000 visitors.

A natural decision to continue supporting Artist Arena

Over the summer, Artist Arena closed a SEK 2 million funding round. We chose to make a follow-on investment alongside existing investors including Jovitech Invest, P&P Utveckling and Scientes Invest. New shareholders joining the company include Juan Fuentes Fernández.

For us, the decision was a natural continuation of the collaboration and development we have seen since our first investment.

“Making a follow-on investment in the company felt like an obvious decision. Fredrik as an entrepreneur and Artist Arena as a company tick all the boxes for us. Our collaboration has worked really well from day one, and I’m very much looking forward to continuing to work together in the same way,” says Christoffer Rydhede, co-founder and Chairman of the Board at Yuncture.

Technology will play an important role in the next stage

With the new capital, Artist Arena will continue to develop its technology platform, including new AI-powered tools for pricing, portfolio management and visualising art in a home environment.

Fredrik emphasises that AI will not be used to create the art sold on the platform, but rather as a tool to support the sales process. Artist Arena will continue to focus exclusively on original works by living artists.

For us, the continued development of the platform, combined with the potential to expand to more physical locations, will be particularly exciting to follow.

“The technological development of Artist Arena will be very interesting to follow, especially given everything happening within AI right now. At the same time, we see great potential in the physical side of the business and the opportunity to bring Artist Arena to more locations in the future,” says Christoffer.

We look forward to continuing to follow Fredrik and Artist Arena as they enter the next stage of their journey. Want to learn more about the company’s development and its latest funding round? Read the article by Ehandel.
